Roma winger Justin Kluivert was interviewed by Goal.com and Voetbalzone today and discussed his season and his time at Roma. Here’s what he had to say:
Which role on the pitch do you prefer?
At Ajax and my first season at Roma, I played very wide, but now I am more of a number 10 or I play on the left as an inverted winger. I like it a lot because I have more freedom and I can find my position. My second year is going much better, I’m satisfied. Last season it was all new: language, teammates, style of play. You have to get used to everything. Now I’m happy.
The objectives are very clear: Champions League qualification and a Europa League victory. How have Smalling and Mkhitaryan adapted? Which teammates are you close with?
I am focused on the Champions League objective and the Europa League. There is still a long way to go but we want to win it. It will be a knockout tournament so it’s very exciting. I want to score more often and reach ten goals.
Smalling? He is a warrior, he immediately made a difference. Mkhitaryan scores and assists: he is important for the team. I can certainly learn from them. I hope they remain at Roma.
I talk a lot with my younger teammates like Ünder but also with Karsdorp because he speaks Dutch and is an exceptional guy.
