Teun Koopmeiners is the young midfielder Roma are looking at as their primary target.
The 23-year-old Dutch international is one of the main names on Roma’s shopping list. However, the Dutchman – closely followed by Stade Rennais, Atalanta and Roma – is growing worried over a potential lack of transfer before the start of the Eredivisie campaign.
Recently, Alkmaar’s captain spoke about the frustrating situation he’s found himself in ever since he asked Alkmaar’s management to hold negotiations for his transfer. La Gazzetta Dello Sport report the following words:
“I was hoping it would have gone much more smoothly. There’s a lot on my mind right now. This situation is very stressful, because at the end of the day I think about it constantly.”
“If the transfer doesn’t happen before the start to the season I’ll just have to play well and put the most minutes into my legs. I know people think I’ve bid the club farewell some time ago, but especially in these times, with the coronavirus and all, a farewell can only take place once the signatures are in place.”
He continued:
“As I said, this is a stressful situation, but I am able to stay calm given that I am in a position of luxury: AZ Alkmaar is not a club I want to leave at all costs. The negotiations are well underway.”
