Koopmeiners one of the primary objectives of Mourinho

RomaPress – Roma General Director, Tiago Pinto, has been working very closely with incoming manager José Mourinho on the club’s summer transfer strategy.

The pair speak daily while the Giallorossi work on several fronts to give their new manager multiple reinforcements.

One of the players that ‘The Special One’ has asked Pinto to make a priority is AZ Alkmaar midfielder Teun Koopmeiners. The 23 year-old, who admitted that the Giallorossi were interested in him last month, has been tabbed by Mourinho as one of his primary objectives for the summer.

The club has already engaged in negotiations with both AZ and the midfielder’s agent, Bart Baving. The parties are talking but they still need more time to reach a total agreement. Koopmeiners, though, is pushing his agent to finalise any potential transfer before the Euro’s commence in two weeks.

Roma are confident in their pursuit of the player due to the rapport they’ve developed with his representatives over the previous months. However, discussions have accelerated over the past week on the insistence of Mourinho and the club is optimistic that they can close the operation.
