Kumbulla with a chance to redeem himself after Coppa Italia exit

Andy Mattioli

Albanian defender Marash Kumbulla is set to make his first return to Roma’s starting eleven since the Giallorossi’s exit from the Coppa Italia a few weeks ago.

The young centreback will replace Chris Smalling – who is suspended for one matchday – in tonight’s Serie A affair with Cremonese.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Kumbulla realizes this may be his chance to redeem himself in Jose Mourinho’s eyes after a nightmare performance against Davide Ballardini’s men which contributed in the humiliating exit from the Coppa Italia.

The player is currently favored to start ahead of Roma’s January signing Diego Llorente. Kumbulla is hoping to impress Mourinho ahead of the first leg against Real Sociedad on 9 March as Roger Ibanez will be suspended and in need of replacement.
