Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri claims there was no penalty, Zaniolo was offside

Andy Mattioli

Lazio Manager Maurizio Sarri recently spoke to the media ahead of the Biancocelesti’s EL match vs Lokomotiv Moscow about the events that occurred during last weekend’s Derby della Capitale.

When asked about Mourinho’s criticism of refereeing decisions, the ex-Juve boss said:

“The penalty not given to Roma in the first half? Zaniolo was offside. And then the penalty in the second half was seen only by the referee and the VAR.”

He added:

“In two days I have not seen the physical contact: if there is, it is Zaniolo who bumps into Akpa-Akpro.”

“But this doesn’t interest me anymore, we got the points and we have to think about the future. A season cannot to be based on a derby, as important as it is.”
