Lazio President Claudio Lotito attacks Roma

Lazio President Claudio Lotito commented on the Italian government’s recent decision to withdraw the famous growth decree from all sports in the country.

The decision comes at a delicate moment for Italian football as it will complicate deals for foreign players coming from abroad.

In an interview with Il Foglio, Lotito criticized this decision and to illustrate its effects, described how the decision might influence Roma’s long-term transfer business.

“This solution is pure demagogy. How will we attract the best players now? It’s not a problem of football, but of all sport. Anyone who says that this is how the youth sectors are ruined doesn’t understand anything. Last year we had three Italian teams finalists in the European cups.”

“From now on it will be much more difficult to be competitive. Can you explain to me how now, for example, Roma will manage to retain Lukaku, Mourinho, how can they pay their salaries? It’s not just a problem for football, but for all sports in general.”
