Lazio fullback Manuel Lazzari expressed regret at the missed opportunity to win the Derby della Capitale.
After the 0-0 result at the Stadio Olimpico, Lazzari told Sky Sport, “Certainly it’s a wasted opportunity, especially given how the first half went. We didn’t make the best of 3-4 clear-cut chances.”
“Obviously this is still an important point because after the break we will play games which we will have to win at all costs.”
“It’s been a few games since we found our defensive solidity, which is very important. Compared to last year we are certainly less fluid in creating scoring opportunities. But if I look at the first half, we had 3-4 clear chances. The crossbar, Rui Patricio’s save… unfortunately the opponents are also there. We were a bit unlucky.”
“In the second half the game was a little more balanced, in the last 15 minutes if we had been more clear-headed we could have created a little something. But I think it’s an important point.”
“When you play the Rome derby you know you don’t can afford to lose. There was a lot of desire to win, we could have done it, especially in the first half. Then when you can’t unlock it, as the minutes pass… you don’t want to lose it anymore. Losing the derby in Rome is really difficult to digest. Last year we had two victories and there was a lot of fear in the second half. When you can’t win, better not lose.”
