Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri was able to celebrate in front of a packed Olimpico after his side beat Mourinho’s team 1-0 in tonight’s Derby della Capitale. The Italian technician took the time to explain the tactics involved in Lazio’s victory.

“The most important thing about today is the win and having made our fans happy. That was our objective from the start,” Sarri told DAZN after the final whistle.

“We’d prepared the match by focusing on their fullbacks and pressing them high up, keeping them wider on the flanks,” he added. “It wasn’t a brilliant game from a technical point of view. But in the end it was a nice game to follow.”

“This is one of the most heartfelt derbies in the world. I played some in London but there is certainly not the emotional participation that there is for this derby. It is not a normal match. It hadn’t been for days: our focus had been on tonight all along, that’s why we lost the previous two matches.”
