Lazio’s Milinković-Savić expected to start in Derby despite recent surgery on fractured nose

Despite undergoing surgery just six days ago to repair a fractured nose, Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinković-Savić is expected to feature from the start today against Roma.

The Laziali reports that the Serbian midfielder will wear a protective mask following the procedure that he underwent on Sunday to repair multiple fractures in his nasal septum.

The midfielder returned to training a few days ago and didn’t experience any issues ahead of tonight’s showdown. After initial fears that he would be unavailable, manager Simone Inzaghi is poised to include the player in his starting formation against the Giallorossi.

The 26 year-old suffered the injury during the Biancocelesti’s 2-0 loss to Fiorentina last weekend. Despite the injury, Savić played for all ninety minutes in the match before undergoing surgery at the Paideia Clinic just hours later.
