Roma midfielder Leandro Paredes discussed his aspirations to someday return to native Argentina and play for Boca Juniors along with fellow teammate, Paulo Dybala.
In an interview with ESPN, Paredes – who made his return to Roma earlier in the summer, signing a long-term agreement with the Giallorossi – commented on his meeting with Boca Juniors President Riquelme.
“When I spoke to Riquelme, he told me that he knew I had time left in Europe and that he wouldn’t text me to come back. He told me: ‘I am in office for 4 years and you will have to come within these 4 years’. So, let’s see what happens in these next few years and surely the time will come.”
“I told him yes, that he knew how much I wanted to return to the club. He also told me that I had to play a little more and continue to enjoy football.”
“I intend to try to convince Dybala to come to Boca. Obviously it’s his decision and I don’t know what he wants for his career.”
The Giallorossi midfielder then concluded by talking about Daniele De Rossi and his relationship with the Buenos Aires team (the last club of his career): “He went crazy. I have a spectacular relationship with him given that I had him as a teammate and he was crazy about Boca. Furthermore he told me that he wanted to be the coach of Roma and have me in the team. If this hadn’t happened, he would have tried to become the coach of Boca and would have taken me on then.”
