Argentine midfielder Leandro Paredes quickly became a steady presence in Jose Mourinho’s starting line-up after returning to Roma.
The ex-Zenit player was finally given the chance to play regular minutes for Roma following his decision to sign with his former club on a permanent deal from PSG this past summer.
The reason for his return definitely set high expectations for him as Paredes was brought in to replace Nemanja Matic who’d departed the club on a last minute notice.
Roma’s reflexive move was to secure Paredes’ signing, having him start in almost every single match for Jose Mourinho’s side.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Paredes has already collected more minutes this season than during all of last season which he spent on loan at Juventus.
Paredes’ steady performances and sacrifice in the middle of the pitch have earned him in equal parts criticism and praise. For Mourinho, Paredes is one of the few players he cannot do without in this starting line-up and whose contribution goes beyond what we see on the pitch.
