Roma midfielder Leandro Paredes has become a pivotal presence in the middle of the pitch for Daniele De Rossi’s team.

After a difficult start under Jose Mourinho, De Rossi’s arrival enabled Paredes to regain form and grown into a leader for the Giallorossi, both on an off the pitch.

Paredes’ season ended prematurely given that the sending off against Genoa will force him to miss the match against Empoli, but the overall campaign was decidedly positive. And the numbers also prove it: 49 total appearances (career record, at most he had put together 44 in the 18/19 season between Zenith and PSG), 5 goals (only in the 17/18 season had he scored more, 6) and 7 assists (also in this case he had only done better in 17/18).

Next season will be crucial for Paredes as his contract with the club expires in 2025 – although the player and his family are considering a return to Argentina, De Rossi’s presence and increasingly central role in the team could prolong his experience in the capital.

According to Corriere dello Sport, in fact, there is a renewal option present in his current deal linked to specific appearance and performance-related objectives. If Paredes were to repeat this same level of performances, Roma would have no problem in renewing his contract.
