Roma midfielder Leandro Paredes spoke about his close rapport with manager Daniele De Rossi whom he considers a friend and mentor.

De Rossi’s arrival benefited Paredes great – De Rossi was able to turn Paredes into a key figure in Roma’s midfield, making him one of the team’s top players since January.

In an interview with Tyc Sports, Paredes reflected on his bond and friendship with De Rossi and their shared passion for Boca Juniors.

“He was already in love before going to Boca. He always watches all the games. “Yesterday we won”, he tells me. When he wasn’t a coach yet he would tell me that his dream was to coach Roma, make me return to the club and then go to Boca together.”

“He was very happy at Boca, we always talked in that period, he absolutely loved it there. He was there for a short time and tried to adapt as best possible although it’s never easy. Look at Cavani – he was heavily criticized at the start and had to work hard with grit and passion to deliver upon his promise.”

“My return to Boca? I don’t set a date for anything in my life. I try to live my life and career day by day. The desire to return to Boca is always there, I’ve already said it, but I won’t set a date.”
