Leandro Paredes details decision to return to Roma

Argentine midfielder Leandro Paredes was announced Roma’s latest signing earlier today.

After six years, Paredes makes his return to the Italian capital as a last minute replacement for Nemanja Matic who departed Roma a few days ago.

In his first interview with Roma TV, Paredes discussed this decision to return to his former club.

“First of all thank you all. I’m really happy, not only me but also my whole family because it’s always nice to come back to Rome, and playing for Roma is even better.”

“From the first moment that Roma showed interest in me, I immediately said yes to this team, this city and this club because it was one of the most important for me. Roma is responsible for bringing me to Europe in the first place and I will always be grateful for that.”

“I spoke to both Tiago Pinto and Mister Mourinho and they both have a lot of confidence in me,” said Paredes.

“The coach told me to put myself immediately at the team’s disposal because we start in a few days and I must be ready to play as soon as possible.”

“I have grown a lot since I left Roma, not only as a player but also as a person. I was lucky enough to win very important things, like the World Cup, which was the best thing of my career. I’m very happy but I want to keep winning.”

“Dybala? He called me every day as soon as he learned that Roma wanted me. I’ve talked to him a lot, he’s great not only as a footballer but also as a person. He is a great friend and it will be a pleasure to share this year with him.”

“Our objectives? We are a strong team and we can fight in all competitions. We hope to do the best for Roma.”
