Leandro Paredes seeks redemption after shaky start with Roma

Andy Mattioli

Leandro Paredes’ return to the Italian capital proved more difficult than initially expected.

The Argentine midfielder came in late in the summer as a last minute replacement to Nemanja Matic who had decided to abruptly depart Roma in favor of a long-term deal with Rennes.

In the opening three months of the season, Paredes failed to meet expectations, collecting only 4 assists in all appearances made while not converting set-pieces as accurately as Jose Mourinho envisioned him to.

With the return of Lorenzo Pellegrini to the team’s starting line-up, Corriere dello Sport reports that Paredes could risk being dropped to the bench.

However, for the time being this is only a remote scenario: the player is aware of his own potential and status within the team he’d already played for in the past. With the busy schedule awaiting Roma around the corner, Paredes will seek redemption in some of the season’s most difficult games.
