Lecce manager Marco Baroni was proud of his team’s effort to hold Roma to a 1-1 draw in tonight’s Serie A affair. Baroni even suggested that Lecce could have doubled their early lead as the game went on.

“I have to congratulate my boys: once again a game of great intensity and pace. We made Roma struggle. We reduced their possibility of entering the penalty area. They are taller than us and we could have suffered because of their height advantage.”

“We had to have this attitude: we are young, but we have courage and we play hard,” he told DAZN at full-time.

“In the second half we had more possession than Roma. The team does it with personality, they accept the duel and fight like warriors. The boys worked very hard leading up to tonight.”

“I’m lucky to coach this team: the group wants to grow, they really stimulate you on a daily basis.”
