Lecce sporting director Pantaleo Corvino joined his club’s president in voicing protest over the red card which compromised his side’s chances of getting a result in last night’s loss to Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

“We’re f*****g pissed!” he said in an interview with Piazza Giallorossa. “And in saying so I think I speak for everyone has been close to this club.”

“Against Roma we witnessed a very harmful refereeing display, which adds up to a whole series of mistakes that cost us dearly in this campaign so far.”

“The decision-making by the match official was strongly influenced by VAR. The red card shouldn’t have been given, we all know that. Smalling’s goal should have been disallowed because he was holding onto his opponent while heading the ball.”

“We will keep voicing our concern because everyone must realize when something unfair occurs,” he concluded.
