Lecce president Saverio Sticchi Damiani claims his side were “wronged” in loss to Roma

Lecce president Saverio Sticchi Damiani protested against the match official’s decision to hand his team a red card less than half an hour into last night’s match at the Olimpico against Jose Mourinho’s men.

The Italian club owner addressed Lecce’s fanbase on his Facebook account, claiming the team from Southern Italy were once again betrayed by unfair refereeing.

“Yesterday, an entire region was mortified by yet another referee blunder,” he wrote.

“We’ve made huge sacrifices to carry out our project: the club with its ideas and investments, and the fans, with costly travel expenses and difficult trips around the country.”

“I have the duty to say that the club is present, that it does not neglect anything, even if it does not express itself through loud, vulgar and counterproductive media appearances,” he said, justifying Lecce’s management and their decision to not protest against last night’s red card.
