Lecce fullback Valentin Gendrey spoke about his side’s need for points in their fight against relegation.

During a media appearance for Lecce’s recent round of press conferences in light of Gotti’s appointment as head coach of the club, Gendrey discussed the upcoming match with Roma after the international break.

“I think it’s a shame to have achieved the first victory away from home with very few fans present,” said Gendrey, reflecting on Lecce’s recent win.

“It is the third year that I have been here, I know how warm our fanbase is and I know that they’re always by our side. We have to prove that the match against Verona is a thing of the past.”

“In head-to-head matches the points are worth double, but at home we can score points against anyone. There are 9 games left, the objective is staying in Serie A: it would be important to collect points against Roma.”
