Roma fullback Leonardo Spinazzola was among the players interviewed following the final whistle to Salernitana 0-1 Roma. The Italian international commented on his side’s performance, reflecting on the positives and the potential improvements Roma will try to implement going forward.

“We have to hold onto the ball more,” he told DAZN. “In the first half we didn’t manage the ball correctly and they made us run too much. Then you become tired.”

“With the amount of quality that we have at our disposal we must play better than this,” he added. “We could have been sitting on 3-0 in the first half.”

“I felt much better in the second half, I had more space to run in because they kept attacking. In the first half they kept a strong defensive shape and didn’t leave so much room to roam in.”

Spinazzola was also asked about the morale of the team and the bond inside the locker room. “When you win a trophy and players with this much quality and experience arrive, then they raise the level of the team. It is up to us to reaffirm our level, to grow and do better in the league compared to last year.”

“We look around us and we know that we have improved a lot. This improvement of the team is what makes you feel stronger.”
