Roma fullback Leonardo Spinazzola is still dealing with the after-effects of the quadriceps injury he suffered in October.

Despite taking part in Roma’s recent run of friendlies in Portugal, Spinazzola has had a difficult time finding his form and struggled to get minutes on the pitch.

The Italian international – once labelled as the best fullback in the world following his performances at EURO 2020 – has yet to return to his former self prior to the painful Achilles rupture suffered in July 2021.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Spinazzola will continue training throughout the holidays and is expected to be replaced by Nicola Zalewski in the team’s starting eleven for the time being.
