At the press conference unveiling newly appointed manager Christophe Galtier, Lille president Gerard Lopez was asked about the future of midfielder Thiago Mendes, who has been linked with a potential move to Roma. These are his words:
“Yes, Thiago Mendes has permission to leave. He’s reflecting but if a player such as him were to leave, we would not wait long to replace him. We will not weaken the roster, this is clear. Our model is based on our ability to adapt”.
