An important day both on and off the pitch. Today the second session of the Conferenza dei Servizi is being held to determine the viability of the Stadio della Roma project as the four governing bodies (Region, State, Metropolitan City, and Roma Capitale) are present to discuss a variety of topics. Follow below full updates:
19.33 CET: Now it is official. The positive outcome of the Conferenza dei Servizi as the Stadio della Roma project has been approved. Minor variants will be made to the project, but nonetheless, the Conference has approved the project.
18.05 CET: Rome mayor Virginia Raggi tweets, then subsequently deletes, that the project has been approved.
“A great result for the city. OK to an innovative and modern project: less concrete and more green space. A stimulus for more jobs.”
We are still awaiting final word on the outcome of the conference, which is likely why the mayor deleted her tweet.
16.15 CET: Codacons, a consumer and environmental protection agency, have voiced their displeasure of the project and have asked that the Stadio della Roma be rejected.
15.20 CET: Today’s session begins.
