As Roma lift their first trophy in over a decade, their captain, Lorenzo Pellegrini, dedicated the top prize to the club’s supporters for their loyalty over the years.
“I just want to say an immense thank you to all of them,” said the midfielder in his post-match interview with Sky Sport. “We gave back only a tiny bit of what they have given us over the past few seasons and this year.”
“Just look at them,” said Pellegrini in awe as the stadium in Tirana continued to roar after the final whistle.
“We are a real team,” he added. “And tonight we proved it.”
“We have to celebrate and then start back up again. After these beautiful victories it is always very difficult to start again. A real team wins, celebrates and starts all over again.”
“I never expected to be able to pull this off at 25 years of age and get to do it with these colours and the captain’s arm-band,” he concluded.
