Lorenzo Pellegrini deemed irreplaceable by Jose Mourinho

Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini has been struggling for the majority of the season with several ups and downs caused by the frequent injuries the midfielder suffered since early September.

Over recent weeks, Pellegrini has been unable to contribute the way he’d hoped to and did when at his best. So far, the 27-year-old has only 2 goals and 5 assists to his name in Serie A despite featuring in 19 league matches.

However, according to Il Messaggero Pellegrini is deemed irreplaceable by Jose Mourinho who has stood by him at all times, refusing to alter Roma’s formation and exclude the captain from the team’s rotations due to lack of alternatives and, more importantly, because of Pellegrini’s leadership and importance to the dressing room.
