Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini shared an in-depth interview with the club’s YouTube channel.
In it, the skipper discussed the responsibility of wearing the captain’s armband and following in the footsteps of the likes of Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi.
“It’s a great responsibility, because being born and growing up in Rome you feel it’s a bit yours, so you also feel the stadium is yours, the people who are inside who fight together with you, and above all a great responsibility and a great challenge because anyone comes to play for Roma he must know what it means to play for Roma.”
“It is also a great pleasure, as it’s the the dream of every Roman child. It’s a great responsibility because it involves many important things that must be passed on to others to at least try to make it clear that you are not wearing just any shirt.”
“It’s a responsibility especially after Francesco and Daniele who made the history of Roma, I think that the armband should not only be worn on Sunday during the match, but should be worn every day because already playing for Roma is a great honor for anyone who comes here, let alone for a kid who grew up in Cinecittà .”
“My shirt number? The number seven has always been my lucky number, so to speak, it is a number that I love to death, to which I am very attached and which I have carried with me as a child not for an idol or something similar but mostly for the pleasure of seeing this number. I like the number seven.”
“When I came here to Roma there were also other numbers available such as 11 and 12 which I also liked, but then in the end I chose 7 because it was available, it was my lucky number, the number that Bruno Conti wore, the man who accompanied me throughout this journey, so I had no doubts about it.”
“Mancini is the most chaotic teammate I’ve ever had although I love him to death and he’s like a brother to me. The best goal-keeper I’ve ever faced? Easy, I used to train with Alisson. He was incredible.”
