Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini discussed the impact of the newest arrivals including Nemanja Matic, Mile Svilar, Zeki Celik and Paulo Dybala, as well as Mourinho’s second season and the importance of winning the Conference League ahead of the upcoming campaign.
“We had a great time in Algarve, we worked hard, with the aim of starting the new season on the right foot,” he told Corriere dello Sport at the end of Roma’s preseason training camp in Portugal.
“This year we will have to deal with the addition of the long World Cup break, so it will be important to start immediately strong to then stop in November among the top teams in the league standings.”
“We have improved a great deal with the new signings,” he said.
“Last year we experienced a special year at the end of which we won a trophy, so it means that the mentality that has been created within the group, especially thanks to the coach, is a winning one, of people who put in a lot of work, of players who do not give up and want to win every single game also in training.”
“This is important because it helps instill a winning mentality in our new signings.”
