Lorenzo Pellegrini fractures toe, to undergo surgery

AS Roma’s medical staff released an update on midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini. The Italian was forced off early in yesterday’s clash against Lecce due to discomfort in his foot. Pellegrini has been suffering from plantar fasciitis in recent weeks, however, it has been revealed that he suffered a fracture to his toe during yesterday’s win.

The timetable for the player’s return, however, is to be determined — here is the full statement from the Giallorossi:

“Midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini underwent medical examinations on Monday morning, after complaining of pain in his right foot following Sunday’s win over Lecce. These examinations revealed evidence of a fracture to the fifth metatarsal. Pellegrini is scheduled to under a corrective procedure on Tuesday. Following its conclusion it will be possible to assess the likely period required to complete a full recovery,” the club stated.
