Lorenzo Pellegrini frustrated with defeat in Bergamo

Andy Mattioli

Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini expressed his frustration at the Giallorossi’s defeat to Atalanta.

Following the match, Pellegrini spoke to DAZN and reacted to final 3-1 result for the Bergamaschi.

“Today you can’t point fingers at anyone. As a team we are sad and angry for having lost this game. There is frustration as in my opinion we played a game of great intensity, decided by a few episodes that went against us today.”

“We have a very busy schedule and I’ve had moments during the season where I wasn’t feeling well but suffice it to say that I’ve said it too many times,” continued the Italian midfielder. “Now I’m playing better, it shows and I’m available to the team.”

“Here at Roma we all help each other. I’ll step on the pitch on Saturday to help my teammates. And if the coach needs me to fill in as a goalkeeper or full-back, I’ll play there.”

“We leave frustrated because we leave with 0 points, but we are aware that we can count on each other.”

“Totti? I don’t even have to say what he means to me. I’ve always said that it’s an honor just to receive a message or a word from him or make eye contact. He knows how important every word he says is to me, we spoke some time ago when things weren’t going well for me, it was important to me and it shows.”

“He manages to continue being the captain of Roma, he will always be a point of reference for me, he knows how much I care about this club, I can’t be happy now, but our relationship has always been wonderful, an honor to hear him say good things about me.”
