Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini declared himself hopeful for Roma’s future despite their latest elimination from the Europa League.
In his post-match interview with Rai Sport following the defeat to Bayer Leverkusen, Pellegrini declared, “We did well, we fought until the end.”
“Our fans believed in it like us and we came very close, so there is a lot of disappointment but at the same time we need to recover our energy. A league finale awaits us where we have to get what I think we deserve.”
“Bayer are very strong. Last time I said that I didn’t have the feeling that they had massacred us but they won 2-0 and it certainly favored them because we always had to chase the result. The impression I had today was that they are a strong team but so are we.”
“We need to recover our energy because in recent months we have done extraordinary things and, also thinking about the future, we must finish the season strong.”
“Things went differently last year, now things have changed. We have started a new journey and we really want to continue it, which is why these three matches are important because they allow us to look to the future with more enthusiasm.”
