Lorenzo Pellegrini’s input in Roma’s first four official outings of the season did not go unnoticed.
The Roma captain – already with 2 assists to his name – was able to perform on a very high level despite Jose Mourinho asking of him to cover multiple positions in the midfield.
Pellegrini initially started out in a midfield pivot alongside Bryan Cristante or Nemanja Matic but was soon asked to shift more forward and provide additional attacking solutions following Nicolo Zaniolo’s shoulder injury.
The 26-year-old was the only Serie A player to be included in WhoScored’s Europe’s Top 5 Leagues Team of the Month for August with an overall score of 7.81.
