In a night that marked his 200th Serie A appearance, Lorenzo Pellegrini led Roma in a hard fought win over Sampdoria at the Ferraris stadium. The Giallorossi captain spoke about the challenges Roma faced in last night’s match as well as his ambitions going forward.

“We knew it was going to be a tough challenge,” Pellegrini told the club after the final whistle. “Mainly because they were playing at home in front of their fans and we knew how tough this place was.”

“Now we have a week to prepare for an important match with Napoli that we will play in our home. We are very happy and satisfied with these 3 points.”

“In the end these are the points that make the difference, which last year maybe we could have lost due to fatigue. This year, on the other hand, we cannot lose these points otherwise it would compromise our mentality. Playing hard until the final whistle makes the difference.”

On reaching 200 appearances in the league, Pellegrini commented, “I am very happy, I hope to be able to play just as many in the future if not more. I am satisfied above all with today’s victory because it was important and allows us to stay up there where we want to be.”
