Lorenzo Pellegrini is expected to sit out this weekend’s Serie A fixture with Sassuolo.
The Roma captain went down with a head injury in last night’s win over Real Sociedad.
Pellegrini was escorted by the medical staff to Villa Stuart, the club’s clinic of choice, where he underwent a CAT scan and spent the night under close observation to exclude any potential concussion symptoms.
According to Sky Sport, the Italian midfielder had 30 stitches applied to his open wound.
Pellegrini is set to miss Roma’s next match with Sassuolo on Sunday, reports Il Messaggero.
Mourinho’s hope is to have Pellegrini available for the return leg with Real Sociedad in San Sebastian.
