Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini was one of the main protagonists tonight in an attacking masterclass by the Giallorossi to seal Roma’s ticket to the Conference League semifinals.
“I think you can say a lot of things about us, personally I think we can make several improvements, but you cannot say that whenever we have to react and bring something extra, we don’t do it. We do,” he said to Sky Sport.
“I’m very happy, I was hopeful before the game. I knew it would be a difficult one, but I also knew we could play well.”
“I think right now the important thing is to remain calm and not rush things. The first thing Mourinho conveys to us is to be demanding with ourselves.”
When asked about his duties as a captain, Pellegrini replied, “What I try to do every day is to pass on to my teammates what I live by wearing these colors on my skin.”
“I think the thing I like most about this team is that it never fails in important moments.”
On Roma’s mentality in the European competitions with regards to last year’s Europa League semifinals, “This time it’s different, maybe we feel more responsibility because we are a team that still has to grow. We’re still a work in progress with a new coach, but we realize that we are a strong team and that makes us want to aim as high as possible.”
