Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini was forced to leave the pitch early on in the second half of last night’s defeat in Derby della Capitale due to a problem with his flexor muscle.

The issue had been nagging Pellegrini for the past few weeks, with the midfielder playing through the injury in order to provide Mourinho with quality in the midfield in Dybala’s absence.

However, now Pellegrini is only looking to come back in the New Year and therefore miss the remaining two games before the World Cup break, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The midfielder will not take part in Roma’s upcoming trip to Mapei Stadium with Sassuolo and the last game before the break with Torino.
