Lorenzo Pellegrini to remain Roma captain after Edin Dzeko’s bust up with manager Paulo Fonseca

Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini will reportedly become the new, permanent captain of the club.

Sky Sport reports that the Roman, who wore the armband during Sunday’s victory over Spezia, will be given the role permanently following last week’s post-training bust up between star striker Edin Dzeko and manager Paulo Fonseca.

The Bosnian will be relieved of the role after his row with the Portuguese tactician that occurred less than 48 hours after the Giallorossi’s elimination from the Coppa Italia by Spezia seven days ago.

Even though he will be stripped of the captaincy by the club, Roma are hopeful that the rapport between Dzeko and Fonseca can be repaired or at least hold up for the remainder of the season.

General Director, Tiago Pinto, has attempted to mediate between the two because it’s unlikely that the former Manchester City man will leave the Italian capital this month.
