Former Bayern Munich and Fiorentina striker Luca Toni – who briefly played for Roma in the second half of a historic Scudetto run in 2010 – was asked about Serie A’s transfer business this past summer.

In his interview with Sportweek, Toni singled out Roma’s signing of Paulo Dybala in free agency.

“Juventus added lots of quality to their roster and they deserve the highest grade,” he said. “Milan have also shown to have clear ideas when it comes on and off the pitch matters.”

“The best deal of the summer? Definitely Dybala to Roma. It was an excellent free transfer,” he added.

“It’s a shame that Serie A is not able to attract great players from abroad. We only sign aging veterans or players who failed elsewhere.”
