Italy boss Luciano Spalletti confirmed his decision to start Gianluca Mancini in the upcoming match of the Euros Round of 16 against Switzerland.

In the absence of Riccardo Calafiori – who is suspended – Spalletti will rely on the experienced Giallorossi defender.

During today’s pre-match presser Spalletti announced his selection:

“In defense, Bastoni must be evaluated tomorrow, while Dimarco, as mentioned, will not be there,” he said.

“Mancini will play instead of Calafiori, because he has that correct experience and it is better to play with a right-footed and a left-footed player with the defense in this way.”

This will be Mancini’s first appearance at the Euros as he’s been limited to the bench in Italy’s first three games.
