Ludogorets coach Ante Simundza proud of victory over Roma

Following a heroic second half, Ludogorets coach Ante Simundza was able to walk away with three points won over Jose Mourinho’s men. The Slovenian manager spoke to dsport.bg after the final whistle, praising his side’s effort in overcoming Roma’s qualities in tonight’s Europa League fixture.

“We won because we fought on the pitch. It is difficult to play so openly against Roma, a team that has great ambitions in the Italian league,” said Simundza.

“It is very difficult to compare the Bulgarian league and the Europa League. In the league we are almost always favorites, but in Europe this is not the case.”

“It was a good win, but tomorrow is a new day. A match does not make the season. I’m very happy not only that Nonato scored, but because we needed him for his qualities.”

“We always have a game plan, but a lot can happen during the game. The important thing is that we knew that sometimes we would suffer against Roma, but we wanted to play and not just defend. We always want the opponent to play our way. It’s not easy, but with the courage the players have, I think it’s possible.”
