Spain manager and former Roma boss Luis Enrique praised his former colleague, Jose Mourinho, from their early days at Barcelona in his most recent appearance on Twitch.
Enrique recounted Mourinho’s unexpected turn as a football manager. “I was lucky enough to have him as our coaching assistant at Barcelona in the 90s. Nobody imagined he’d become a coach and nobody expected him to achieve the things he did.”
“I’ve always had a very close relationship with him. When Robson left, van Gaal arrived and the only one who dared tell him things up front was Mourinho. van Gaal appreciated it very much.”
“I’m still in touch with him, also because Jose’s interpreter at Roma is a close friend of mine. I really like Jose and have fond memories of him.”
