Roma were able to pull off an impressive equalizer in the second half to end the first leg of the Europa League playoffs with Feyenoord with a draw.
Romelu Lukaku was the star for the Giallorossi, scoring a header in the second half as Roma amped up the pressure on their opponent.
In his post-match interview with Sky Sport, Lukaku said, “We played a good game, I had three chances and there were chances for the others too. In the end, coming here to Rotterdam and getting a draw is a good result. Now we are waiting for them at the Olimpico.”
“Feyenoord are very strong, they make interesting plays in the possession phase. Karsdorp and I watch Dutch football, we tried to talk to the team and discuss what the opponent is all about. We played a good match. 1-1 in Rotterdam is a good result.”
“Our strength is that we never give up until the end. We show it any time. Today we played a good match, Paulo, Lorenzo and Rick were great. Zale also had an interesting game, as did the players who came off the bench.”
“I was coming off a difficult stretch. For a striker who hasn’t scored a goal for a long time, it’s difficult. I continued to work and do the things the coach asked of me, opening up spaces for Lorenzo. Then today I was lucky with the goal because I hit it a little badly. It’s a shame we didn’t win because we had the opportunities to do so. We are growing, with a new training system. It’s still a long way off and we expect them in Rome next week.”
“The coach wants us to play and have personality with the ball. In the possession phase we still have some work to do. My future? I just want to think about Roma, then we’ll see at the end of the season.”
