Earlier today the capital club announced the loan signing of Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Arsenal until June.
Roma published the following announcement on their website:
The club is delighted to confirm the signing of Ashley Maitland-Niles on a temporary loan deal.
Maitland-Niles, 24, joins the Giallorossi from Premier League side Arsenal until the end of the 2021-22 season.
A full England international, Maitland-Niles has earned five caps for his country to date.
“I am just delighted to be here and can’t wait to crack on,” he said.
“I want to help the team and show what I can do as a player.
“Thank you to the fans for the support they’ve already shown me – I hope we can go on to do something great by the end of the season.”
Maitland-Niles joins the club having made 132 appearances for Arsenal, after graduating through the club’s academy system.
During that time he has shown his versatility, regularly playing on both flanks and in central midfield positions.
He has previously enjoyed loan spells at Ipswich Town and West Bromwich Albion.
“With Maitland-Niles we are bringing to Roma a young player who fits well with the profile we were looking for to improve the squad and cover a number of different positions,” said the club’s General Manager, Tiago Pinto.
“When we spoke to Ainsley we were really struck by his enthusiasm about the prospect of joining our group and having the chance to work with Jose Mourinho.”
Maitland-Niles has chosen to wear the No. 15 shirt for the club.
Welcome to Roma, Ainsley!
