While Mourinho and his men prepare for tonight’s showdown at the Dacia Arena against Udinese, General Manager Tiago Pinto and his staff are working ahead of the summer transfer window, making careful considerations regarding the current roster.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Portuguese director is now busy monitoring the situation involving the newly arrived players: Sergio Oliveira and Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
Oliveira’s option can be triggered for a fee of €13 million and it is probable that the Giallorossi will take advantage of it. However, no such decision has been made thus far.
On the other hand, Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ adventure in the capital seems to be a short-lived affair, with the Englishman making a return to the Gunners in June.
Signed on a dry loan from Arsenal, Maitland-Niles was considered by Pinto as a low-cost, temporary solution to Roma’s inconsistencies in the left-back position.
The capital club are reportedly looking at bigger objectives for the left flank and the English international will not be part of Roma’s project going forward.
