Manolas nears renewal, Strootman the captaincy

John Solano

Today’s edition of La Repubblica has reported that Kevin Strootman could be the next captain of Roma, while the renewal of Kostas Manolas is all but done.

During summer training, including Pinzolo and the North American tour, Kevin Strootman has returned from a serious knee injury and has been a protagonist under Spalletti for Roma. The Dutchman has also been recognized as one of team’s most important leaders both on and off the pith, something has been especially recognized by Spalletti. The Roma manager recognizes that Strootman is both a crucial piece on the field and the dressing room and with Francesco Totti retiring after the season and Daniele De Rossi out of contract, the Dutch midfielder is seen as the captain for the foreseeable future.

Meanwhile, Kostas Manolas has reached an agreement, in principle, for a contract renewal. The parties will return soon to fix the final details, but the situation appears to be lacking only formalities.
