Real Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini praised his men after an encouraging victory at the Stadio Olimpico in last night’s Europa League engagement with Roma. The veteran technician spoke to the media after the final whistle.
“I’m very happy with this win, which is the most important thing right now,” he said. “And I’m also happy for the performance that we gave, we were clearly the better team for the majority of the game.”
“I’m just very happy with this performance. The team that played better won. That’s what counts.”
“We never play to draw,” he continued. “We always try to impose our gameplan wherever we go. We’re not the kind of team that feels inferior to its rival.”
“It’s a wonderful thing to be able to beat Roma in their own stadium but it’s not our ultimate objective,” said Pellegrini. “We want to aspire to bigger and better things,” he concluded.
