The search for Spinazzola’s temporary replacement continues. The latest name to be linked with a move to the Roman club is Marc Cucurella of Getafe.

The Athletic reports that Roma are in the run for the Spanish midfielder who can also play as a left-back (his preferred position). Cucurella will debut with the Spanish under-23s national team at the Tokyo Olympics. Mourinho will monitor him closely during the competition. However, the player will not leave Getafe unless a hefty offer is made.

The Spanish side want €18 million for the 22-year-old. That is the set amount of the release clause in his current contract. Roma, however, are reportedly not the only club interested in the player. In fact, Cucurella is drawing interest from Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion after having completed the 20/21 campaign with 2 goals and 3 assists in 39 appearances for Getafe.

A lot will depend on whether Roma are able to monetize from player sales including the likes of Olsen, Kluivert and Nzonzi over the coming weeks. The left-flank remains a priority for General Manager Tiago Pinto.
