Marcão, the father-agent of former Roma midfielder Gerson, was interviewed today by O Globo and admitted he now regrets passing on the chance to take his son to Barcelona. These are his words:
“Barcelona wanted Gerson and reached a purchase agreement. Then I arrived at the Fluminense offices one day and their president (Peter Siemsen) told me Roma had made a magical offer. He told me the club were in a bad way financially, with some officials not even being paid. I then went to meet them and accepted their offer. Today I’m much more experienced and I probably wouldn’t do it again.”
