Brazilian attacker Marcos Leonardo reflected on his failed move to Roma.

In the aftermath of Santos’ win over Gremio – where Leonardo proved to be one of his side’s goal-scorers for the night – the 20-year-old discussed what went on behind him and the club as Roma were in talks to sign him.

“What happened hurts me and the club,” Leonardo stated. “The president had promised to let me go and he knew that I would leave in this transfer window, but that’s fine, now everything is resolved.”

“I stayed out against Fortaleza because I wasn’t focused, Roma’s offer was all I could think about. It was what I wanted the most.”

“I decided to stay and help the team. I never thought of running away from the club that raised me,” he concluded.

Leonardo continues to be a target for Roma. In fact, the latest reports in Italy claim that Roma are nearing an agreement for his transfer in January.
