After being linked with a potential January switch to Roma, Brazilian attacker Marcos Leonardo is likely to end up in Portugal.

According to the latest report by ANSA, Leonardo – who had been a concrete target for the Giallorossi in the summer with his agent, Rafaela Pimenta, pushing for a transfer to Italy and eventually being denied by Santos – is looking to accept a proposal from Benfica.

The Portuguese giants are said to be nearing an agreement with Santos for a total fee of €20 million (€15 million fixed plus €5 in add-ons).

Roma are reportedly out of the race for the 20-year-old attacker.
