Following his exclusion from last night’s Copa Libertadores match against Universidad Católica, Matías Viña is very close to joining Roma. His arrival, as stated by Tiago Pinto himself, is imminent.
After last night’s win, Viña’s teammate, 32-year-old Marcos Rocha spoke to Terra and shared his thoughts on Viña leaving Palmeiras for Roma.
“He’s an important player for us, who identified with the club and with the fans since the moment he first arrived here. We know we’ll miss him, but this is part of our careers.”
He added:
“He’s a young and promising player, a player of the Uruguayan national team. He now has the opportunity to play for a top club that will welcome him to European football.”
